The rain brought out this little creature. I’m surprised I managed to notice it. The bigger surprise was what happened when I got out of the passenger seat to take a picture.

The turtle ran away from me. It rushed towards the highway. Then, once it heard the rush of cars coming its way, it turned back. I’m sure it figured, if it was to die, better at the hands of some girl than a machine.

But for the record: Turtle, I found you fascinating way before you started running. I apologize for the scare.

Lessons learned: turtles at the side of the road don’t like and should not be given camera-attention. Also… Life is so precious, even a turtle fearing death will run (I’m not kidding!) away from a perceived threat (little ol’ me/cars).
